They approached the stranger and said 'Wassup?' The man told them he was with G I Joe, a team of soldiers dedicated to fighting Cobra the enemy.
They were somewhat curious, so they stayed and talked...

Arbie: "Easy D... Dis cracker's just offering us a job. Damn..."

After they were each offered $50, a shower, and some fried chicken, the two men decided
to go with Bill and join G I Joe. Bill failed to mention anything about the fact that
both men would have to shave their afros and change their clothes. He figured he'd wait til they got onboard, and then they would have no choice...

Bill: "Heh... Yeah, I heard it. But you boys are gonna have to watch yer mouths around the Captain..."

Bill didn't particularly like either of the thugs, but he had earlier seen them rob a liquor store and
was convinced they'd make good soldiers. Especially the darker one with the messed up fro... He had serious potential.

Finally arriving at the Flagg, Bill introduced the thugs to everyone and the ship departed for headquarters.
Arbie and Mickey D. were not happy about shaving their afros and changing their clothes, but a couple of cold Colt 45's fixed everything.
Arbie was placed in the main cabin since he had previous driving experience, and Mickey Dee
was sent to Admiral Keel-Haul's office to try on his new gear...
